Description
The Astoria peach is completely red in the outside and yellow in the inside, it stands out for its time of maturation which is pretty early compare to the other varieties and is also pretty earty in term of its blossoming. Peach trees usually flourish in the first days of spring but are very sensitive to the frost making the Mediterranean climate which is very rarely submitted to low temperatures the perfect weather for this kind of fruits. They need a lot of hours of sun but also deep, well drained and exempt of limestone which explain why the Region of Murcia is perfect for this fruit. This kind of peach is interesting for its extra point of antioxidants. Besides it is a very good source of provitamin A and vitamins C, B1, B2 and B6. Regarding minerals its percentage of potassium stands out. It contains fiber and various minerals making it especially recommendable to reduce high levels of cholesterol.

The Astoria peach has a lot of uses as much culinary as medical. It is perfect to be served as a dessert, fresh or in syrup. It is also very delicious in baking, as marmalade or in juices. It can also be peeled and put inside a wine jar in order to be refrigerated and later on being served during your meal.
